Sometimes the thing you fear is not nearly as bad as you thought it would be, but still sucks big time. They say you can’t get Covid from the vaccine, but I’ve now heard of two other people who, like myself, had managed to steer clear of the virus the past four years, got the latest vaccine, and then came down with full blown Covid two days later. The upside is that I got through most of my case before my mom—thankfully—got only a very mild version. Still pretty scary, though, and don’t know where either of us would be without the benefit of Paxlovid.
Planting these marigolds in late July, I didn't have faith that any—let alone every seed—would come up. And when they did, I didn’t have the heart to thin them. But thanks to this planter with a hidden reservoir, I’m getting plenty of blooms, which is what I was secretly hoping for.
Thanks to Caitlin Hamilton Marketing & Publicity, A New Day has been getting some great press, and I’d like to share a few recent hits.
I’m such a fan of David Gutowski’s fantastic website Largehearted Boy, “all about sharing the love for music, literature, and popular culture.” And I was honored to create an annotated playlist for A New Day for his feature Book Notes. You can listen HERE.
I’m also a big fan of
’s work, and highly recommend her recent story collection Direct Sunlight. Christine also writes the Substack Bookish, all about “books & book-adjacent topics, taking the long view, the writing life, and related resources.” It was my great pleasure to talk with her about art and writing and all things A New Day. You can read that interview HERE.Last but not least, the wonderful online literary journal Monkeybicycle runs a regular feature called “If My Book,” “in which authors compare their recently released books to weird things.” This was SO much fun to do. I hope you’ll enjoy my version! You can find it HERE.
But so sorry about covid and hope you're okay.
Thank you, Sue, for this kind mention!!
